Seven, silent, sparrows-
scuffling in the dirt at the dip.
A sudden ballet of birds,
Synchronized and without a single chirp,
they separate, momentarily, as we walk by.

A freight train of shadows,
edging along the sidewalk.
My thoughts jump on board,
like a hobo flipping a train.

(Note: for this stone I googled "train hobo terminology" and found several instances where the words "train flipping" were used to describe jumping on board a moving train.)
