I start again

Of vows, blessings, cake, and  a life in permanent review-

I am my own hotpsot (hotpoet was what the keys bounced out first)
Hurling forward on this road.
The man in the front seat practices Chinese
as the road slides wetly below our feet and we leave a trail of spit.
Leaving behind upcoming vows and too much cake.
Reviewing the blessings
going forward, looking back
and loving her more than she will ever know.

so love is all that is heard

I cannot fathom how I will bridge Madison Ave to her heart....

I could be black and white stripes-
across the pavement
Or the white flag of surrender-
supple and soft.

but no
I wait for when I can see that I am already there.

to say what needs to be said

Just as I neared the summit
the paper cards covered with words
Resolve blew in and out the open window.

a bagful of fabric lay at my feet like a lost puppy,
reaching down to pet it
the rushing air took the up front voices
and dumped them on the highway.

he could not even lift his Bible.

with friends

the sun walked all the way out and back
never wavering,
as the old friends talked.

and buy things we might need

I am sure I needed the ink toner
it was on my list.
as for the rest-
the store display made it seem that I needed it-

but we walk

you can return from your cold evening walk
to the first iris unfolding
in the waning rays light
of almost evening.

Inhaling the colors-
my camera paints the image better than my eye can see.

observing incoming transition

the caress of the breeze started out warm.
but as it left my skin
I knew tomorrow would be different.

Now I know

reflecting sight
turned inward.
remembering might
burned outward.

"use a smaller stride when going uphill."
